Drainlayers in Cashmere

Smart Contracting are certified drainlayers working across Cashmere, where sloping sections, hill stormwater and ground that moved in the earthquakes make for drainage problems you do not get on the flat.

Drainage on a slope behaves differently

Cashmere runs up the hill, and water coming off a slope arrives faster and in more volume than a flat section ever sees. Stormwater that was adequate when the house was built is often not adequate now, and the first sign is usually water where it should not be rather than a blocked drain.

Plenty of the housing here is old enough for clay pipe, and the Port Hills ground moved in the quakes. Between the two, a Cashmere drain can be cracked, out of line, or both. A camera settles which, and whether the damage is quake related and belongs with an insurer.

  • Hill stormwater and sloping sections
  • Earthquake damage found and put right
  • Old clay pipe relaid rather than patched

Cashmere questions

Do you cover Cashmere?

Yes. Cashmere and the Port Hills side are inside the everyday Christchurch service area.

Do you do drainlaying on a steep Cashmere section?

Yes. Drainlaying on a slope is its own skill, because the fall is the easy part and controlling the speed of the water is the hard part. It is normal work for us.

Is my Cashmere drainage problem earthquake damage?

It might well be, and a CCTV inspection is what tells you. The Port Hills ground moved, and drains that were signed off as fine afterwards were not always fine. The footage gives you something to take to an insurer.
